Web shop for the sale and service of bicycles and bicycle equipment, which is specific for its front page.

One of our first web shops on the new management system based on October CMS, which we developed at the beginning of 2019.

We gave away the Miško web shop, that is, we invited potential clients to report their needs for a web shop, and we chose one of them and create a web store for them - free of charge. It was a win-win situation because we used that web shop to grind a new management system.

Today, unfortunately, the web shop is only a catalog without the possibility of purchasing, due to the lack of time on the part of the client to maintain it.

Why was the Miško web shop given away for free?
Back in early 2019 we had just moved our web shop builds to October CMS, and we wanted a real project to put the new system through its paces rather than a demo with fake products. So we put out a call, asked businesses to tell us what they needed, and picked Miško, a bicycle shop and service in Križevci. They got a fully built web shop at no cost, and we got a live store to refine the platform on. Both sides came out ahead.
Why does the site work as a catalog now instead of a real online shop?
It was originally built with full purchasing, but running an online shop takes ongoing work from the owner: keeping stock accurate, updating prices, processing orders, answering buyers. The client ran out of time to keep that up, so the store now runs in catalog mode. People can browse the bikes and equipment, but checkout is switched off. The shop functionality is still there in the background and can be turned back on whenever Miško is ready to manage it again.
What is special about the front page you mention?
The home page was designed around the shop itself rather than a generic template. It leads with the bicycle range and the service side of the business together, since Miško both sells and repairs bikes, so a visitor lands and immediately understands what the shop does. It was one of the things we tuned the most while testing the new CMS.
Why build it on October CMS?
October CMS gave us a clean admin area that a shop owner can actually use without a developer sitting next to them, plus the flexibility to shape the storefront and product pages exactly how we wanted. For a 2019 project where we were standardizing how we build web shops, it was the platform we decided to commit to, and Miško was the first real store we shipped on it.
